Viola C. Mayol was born in Tacloban City, Leyte and came to the US in 1976. She has made art all her life, in various media, following in the footsteps of her grandmother and mother, who worked magically with cloth. Her work is informed by native crafts from the island of Higatangan where Viola spent many summers. She considers herself a multimedia artist. She finds comfort in printmaking and papercutting. Viola graduated with a BA in Art and Speech Communications from North Park University and later pursued a MA in Counseling: Art Therapy from Adler University. She is also a certified facilitator of the Open Studio Process. She believes in the transformative and healing power of artmaking.
Proud of your work.
