Cheri Tanamal (b.1999) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago. She likes to focus on intrapersonal relationships and culture. Many of her projects are an exploration of memory; Frozen in time, altered, and unreliable. Creation helps her finds peace through storytelling.
This work is called “Baskog” because I do not completely understand the language my family speaks. I would hear this word when I made myself another serving of food. I misunderstood and thought I was being made fun of for my weight. I later learned that it means “healthy.” This illustration is about a positive relationship with food as well as with my family.
