I am a book artist. During my childhood, I filled a sketchbook with my own drawings of Calvin and Hobbes, Batman, and characters I made up. In college, I was a cartoonist for the school newspaper, and in graduate school, I learned to make my own paper and books by hand. In my career, I have illustrated and designed children’s books, boardgames, interactive digital magazines, and technical training textbooks. For my own art since college, I’ve been creating Artist’s Books that invite the audience to revisit the same story from different angles. I believe that this is what makes art in any genre intriguing — the invitation to enter into each piece not just to leave quickly but to stay a while and explore.
