Neil Ybañez is a Chicago-based physician artist. His earliest memories of making art are of doing charcoal drawings as a child growing up in the Philippines. Neil enjoys experimenting with a wide variety of methods and mediums, from pencil and ink sketches to watercolor, pastel, acrylics, and oils. He is drawn to landscapes both natural and urban. He finds inspiration in the art of John Singer Sargent, George Inness, and Joaquín Sorolla. Neil has taken drawing and painting courses at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Lillstreet Art Center, and Madeline Island School of the Arts . He has also studied with Chicago artists Nancie King Mertz and Don Yang.
